Concert grand pianos of the Golden Age

... were till 1940 still proper concert grands, inspiring the audiences in various halls, whether large or small. Concert grands was a name for those grand pianos that offered a broad dynamic range at a length of 2.20 m and more, thus not only producing a great encompassing sound but also the possibility to range from subtlest pianissimo to strongest fortissimo - without being unpleasantly loud.

All wealthy piano lovers and talented pianists had a concert grand at home for practicing, giving concerts and composing. Besides the better looks, these concert grands provide a more definitely unique character because the sound was not yet as standardized as it is today. There is no better play and sound experience for anyone who has the possibility to set up such a marvelous grand piano.
